Google announced that Universal Analytics is going away on the 1st of July 2022. Therefore many companies in need to upgrade to Google Analytics 4. If you don’t have time to set up Google Analytics 4 or want someone to help you implement it, the best way is to pay for Google Analytics 4 consulting services. But how can you understand which consultant is the best?

How to select the right consultant to set up Google Analytics 4

As I told you above, it’s not an easy question, but there are best practices that you can follow.

Firstly, determine the budget you want to spend on that. If you are interested in the cheapest services that are not the best ones, you can find someone on UpWork or TopTal. If you are interested in finding the right mix of experience and price, you can use the same freelance platforms or Google and see what agencies offer.

Secondly, check if the consultant you selected has a Google Analytics 4 certificate. If the candidate doesn’t have one, this consultant likely doesn’t have a deep knowledge of GA4. That person could work and implement GA4 for companies, but the implementation won’t follow all best practices and won’t be relevant to your business.

Thirdly, look if the consultant publishes articles about Google Analytics 4. The best way to learn something is to teach this subject to someone else. It was genuine, and it’s true right now. Most likely, if someone doesn’t write blogs, this person doesn’t have a structured approach. It will negatively influence your business.

Fourthly, if the specialist has the certificate and writes articles, ask him if he can come up with a list of things that will be implemented. It shouldn’t be the exact implementation plan for your business, but at least this person should send you a GA4 checklist. You can also compare people using the implementation plans they sent you.

Fifthly, look who else has already worked with this consultant. If you see good brands and excellent testimonials left after the work was done successfully, it says you are on the right path.

Suppose you follow all of the five rules above. In that case, you will be able to find the candidate that will not only implement Google Analytics 4 for you but also delight you with his concept and the way how he looks at your business, providing you with new metrics (and KPIs) and potentially new ways of growing your business online.
