Building websites

My story began in 2012 when I started building websites while studying banking at university. Over four years at university and two years of professional experience at the bank (selling financial products to business clients), I created websites daily. 

Army

After running a successful web design agency for a few years, I went to the army. Unfortunately, It’s mandatory in Belarus, and I couldn’t say no.  However, I could spend each free moment learning more about the web, and I did it. I started to learn everything about CRO and web analytics at night and when I had free time. I translated the printed copies of articles and blogs to learn more about data analytics, conversion rate optimisation, growth hacking, paid marketing, etc.

CRO agency

After I left the military, I started finding places to apply new knowledge. My friend helped me to find a free position at a CRO agency that was ready to hire a newbie and allow him to grow professionally. 

At the agency, my primary responsibilities were:

  1. analysing the clients’ company data and offering new ideas for a/b tests;
  2. implementing analytics tools (Kissmetrics, Google Analytics, Hotjar);
  3. analysing surveys and polls.

After working six months there, I started to feel limited. I was eager to learn more and grow professionally faster. 

Upwork – First Step

Thus, my friend and I created the first profile on Upwork to provide CRO, analytics and data analysis services. Over the following years, we worked under the same profile on Upwork. Some of our clients were:

After two years of Upwork experience, I created my profile. I was confident enough to grow it myself. I had the experience of increasing companies revenue by 30%-100% by conducting experiments, analysing traffic and improving onboarding and marketing campaigns. And… you know… I received the “TOP Rated” badge on Upwork in 3 months. My new clients were so happy that they started recommending me to other clients. Full-time Positions

After working for 1.5 years with a client, https://www.provablyfair.ro/, he decided to acquire me for the full-time position. Unfortunately, I could only work there for the next eight months because the company was sold.

In January 2021, I started to work at Mailbird. During this time, I learned a lot about a/b testing, data analysis, machine learning, data warehousing and other areas. I could improve LTV by more than 50% and be promoted to the CRO&Data Manager position. Although the company policy was good enough and the people there were bright, I needed to go further in my life, so I left.
